What is Cupping Therapy?
Cupping Therapy has been used now for over 3000 years by ancient Chinese, Egyptian and Middle Eastern cultures and has become ever more popular in North America in the last 20 years for it's benefits to the circulatory system, muscular and joint health, and for it's detoxification effect on the skin and underlying tissues.
When receiving an Intuitional Massage with Cupping Therapy Treatment, we will reserve the last 15 minutes of the treatment for using the therapeutic cups, either with a static (no movement) or with a sliding (movement massage) techniques, based on the preferred outcome that is relevant to the areas and ailments being treated. With the static method, we will place the cups, cover with a sheet and will allow you to rest for the remainder of the treatment. With the sliding method, a single cup will be used and will be moved along the areas treated for a broader, more circulatory effect. Patients can expect local redness and/or a topical bruising effect, which is a normal reaction, that can last between 3-10 days following the treatment. Some of the darker bruising can be attributed to areas of more circulatory stagnation, which should signify a better therapeutic effect overall.
Followup cupping treatments should allow for 3-5 days in between each treatments to allow for tissue recovery and proper detoxification. Find out why so many pro athletes and healthcare practitioners have relied on this method for a more advanced approach to recovery and overall better health.
